Animated simulation of the paths of X-ray wave fields in a crystal containing a dislocation

Résumé

The propagation of X-ray wave fields in a crystal containing a dislocation is computed according to the dynamical theory and the intensities inside the crystal are represented in false colours. The position of the core of the dislocation is represented by a white cross. The video illustrate the case of an incident spherical wave on a Silicon crystal 400 micron thick , reflection (3 3 -3) with Mo Kalpha radiation (Bragg angle 19.83 degrees). Increasing intensities are visualized with the following colour map : black (no intensity), blue, green, yellow, orange and red (maximum intensity).
